Join visual artist Tracey Johnson for a creative, hands-on workshop where you’ll design and make colourful, luminescent botanical-themed paper lanterns.

Suitable for all ages, this family-friendly session invites participants to explore the possibilities of paper as a medium, learning simple art and design techniques to cut, layer, and assemble striking illuminated forms.

Inspired by the beauty of plants and flowers, you’ll create your own unique lantern, experimenting with colour, pattern, and light to bring your design to life. With guidance and encouragement throughout, both children and adults can enjoy the process of making together.

At the end of the session, you’ll have a beautiful lantern to carry in the Lantern Parade or take home as a glowing keepsake.

Workshop suitable for ages 6 and up. We ask carers stay to supervise their children.

🏮The Lantern Parade will be held at the Arboretum at 5pm on 18 and 19 July, following a looped route around the Events Terrace. All are welcome to join the parade and help bring the lanterns to life. The Lantern Parade is suitable for all ages and abilities.
