Photography, filming and drones

With spectacular views, rolling hills, beautiful forests, landscaped gardens and stunning architecture, the Arboretum is one of Canberra’s most popular destinations for recreational and commercial photographers and videographers.

Photography for personal use is permitted and does not attract a fee. There are no restrictions for recreational photography.

Commercial and Not-for-profit filming and photography including wedding photos, family portraits, film production and company promotions must be pre-approved. Fees apply.

Drones

The National Arboretum Canberra is a no drone zone. Flights are permitted with prior NAC management permission only.

If you would like to fly onsite, please provide the following information in an email to arboretum@act.gov.au

To facilitate your application, please provide information at least one week prior to intended flight. Allow up to four days for approval.

Recreational users:

* provide date and time of intended flight
* statement on purpose and use of imagery
* $20 million public liability Certificate of Currency
* risk management plan (Safe Work Method Statement)

Commercial/ work/ community organisation:

* provide date and time of intended flight
* statement on purpose and use of imagery
* $20 million public liability Certificate of Currency
* risk management plan (Safe Work Method Statement)
* Drone Registration number
* RPA number: Operation Accreditation
