Getting here


The National Arboretum Canberra is located just 6km from the Canberra City Centre at the western end of Lake Burley Griffin. The Arboretum can be accessed by car or bike. There are bike racks onsite, and for large pre-organised groups there is temporary bus parking onsite. There is no public transport to the National Arboretum Canberra.

Parking

Village centre

General paid parking is available in the main car park between 9am and 4pm, 7 days a week. All parking proceeds benefit the maintenance of the Arboretum’s living collection, education programs, scientific research and assets.

A number of free parking spaces are available for vehicles displaying an authorised disability parking voucher, and separate motorcycle spaces on the top tier next to the Village Centre entrance.

Bus and coach parking is free of charge and available in the main visitors' car park near the entrance to the Village Centre.

Annual parking passes are available to members of the Friends of the National Arboretum Canberra. For more details visit friendsarboretumcanberra.org.au

Forest parking

Limited sealed-surface parking including wheelchair car parking is available at the Himalayan Cedar Forest, Dairy Farmers Hill and at the end of Cork Oak Road, about 200 metres from the start of the Cork Oak Forest. Forest carparks are free of charge to all visitors. We ask all visitors not to park on the side of the road.

Margaret Whitlam Pavilion

The car park at the Margaret Whitlam Pavilion is reserved for function guests only. It includes designated disabled car parking. Access to this car park is off Forest Drive.
