Trialling 'cutting edge' technology at the National Arboretum Canberra
National Arboretum is currently trialling Husqvarna Ceora™, a battery-powered commercial robotic lawn mower to maintain and improve the lawn quality. Sustainability is a top priority for the National Arboretum, with Ceora™ set to revolutionise an industry that has been dominated by heavy, conventional petrol powered mowers by automating time and resource consuming tasks while at the same time helping to reduce CO2 emissions by as much as 83% during the machine’s life cycle compared to a petrol Husqvarna P 525DX ride-on mower*.
Husqvarna is the world leader in robotic mowers with a large range of residential and commercial robotic mowers and has been designing and manufacturing robotic mowers for over 28 years. Robotic mowers provide a lot of benefits to the community including reducing the carbon footprint, reduced noise, improved safety and providing healthier grass and a quality cut. Automation is and will continue to be a large part of our future and provides an interesting opportunity for students to understand the various roles and benefits that automation such as Ceora™ can bring.
Rest assured, Husqvarna Ceora™ has many inbuilt engineering controls for overly inquisitive children. It features swing back blades, that prevent objects being ejected out of the mower at speed, lift and tilt sensors to stop the blades, ultra-sonic sensors to slow Ceora™ down and object avoidance so it can mow around people. We would encourage you to avoid students playing around the charge station or interfering with the mower whilst it’s operating. If the mower is operating on a lawn that the children want to play on, the mower can easily be paused or parked by the Arboretum team. If you have any concerns please contact the Arboretum team.
