On Thursday 3 April 2025, the Arboretum held a celebration morning tea in aid of recent successes at the 2024 Australian Tourism Awards.
Our valued Ambassadors, Friends, volunteers, donors, corporate partners, site partners and supporters were welcomed to the happy occasion.
Stuart Jeffress, Executive Branch Manager, National Arboretum Canberra and University of Canberra Stromlo Forest Park opened the formalities.
Ngunnawal elder Uncle Warren Daley then provided a warm Welcome to Country.
Following this, three speakers gave their sentiments, congratulations and insights of this in depth undertaking and hard work behind the scenes to attain these awards along with Eco and Accessibility accreditations obtained throughout the process. The speakers included Kareena Arthy, Deputy Director-General, Economic Development Directorate, Diane Mutch, Community Engagement Officer at the National Arboretum Canberra, and Debra Beetham, Managing Director Canberra Region Tourism Industry Council.
The Gold award for 'Ecotourism' and Silver award for 'Excellence in Accessible Tourism' were presented for viewing in the room alongside quotes from the National Arboretum and University of Canberra Stromlo Forest Park staff which highlighted standout achievements in 2024, and why they are proud to work here.
The event concluded with group photos to capture all present on the day, marking this momentous occasion as one to look back on fondly.
