The National Arboretum Canberra, a destination icon in Canberra has now been recognised nationally at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards. Up against the best attractions across Australia, the Arboretum placed second in Australia for the prestigious ‘Tourism Attractions’ category.
Scott Saddler AM, Executive Branch Manager of the National Arboretum and Stromlo Forest Park, was on the Sunshine Coast in March 2022 to collect the award.
Scott reflects,
“There are many reasons the National Arboretum ranks so highly, such as our award-winning venues and caterers, stunning architecture, education programs, our beautiful forests, views, sculptures, cultural tours, the unique Bonsai and Penjing Collection of Australia and the recreational opportunities and events on site.”
But he makes no secret of the success of the National Arboretum.
“We went from ‘sticks in the ground’ when we opened in 2013, to ranking second in Australia in just nine short years. Without the dedication and professionalism of the staff and volunteers, we could not have achieved so much. We are a small team and each and staff member goes above and beyond each day. This award and recognition is dedicated to them.”
Autumn is one of the best seasons to visit the National Arboretum Canberra, with a full events calendar, school holiday activities, indoor concerts and beautiful autumn weather, we hope to see you there soon!
