Canberra Art Biennial and Contour 656, 1 – 29 October 2022
“Temporary art transforming Canberra: Making space into place”
The Canberra Art Biennial 2022 features over 75 artists whose works provide a rich engagement with the design and the landscape of Canberra. The month-long program will be held in various locations around Canberra from 1 – 29 October 2022.
As part of the expansion of the Canberra Art Biennial, this year Contour 656 will be held at the National Arboretum Canberra with seventeen artists represented through the natural and built environment. You can discover the works of art in the Himalayan cedar forest, the Event Terrace and in the Village Centre. Ephemeral experiences include chalk art poems responding to different locations around the National Arboretum and ‘Localjinni’ a Forest Bathing night walk in the Cork oak forest.
Contour 656 gives visitors the opportunity to engage deeply with art in the environment whilst exploring the National Arboretum. We encourage locals and visitors to understand the many layers of Canberra through art.
The grounds of the National Arboretum Canberra are open from 6am – 8.30pm during Daylight Saving Time.
