𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰... the Wollemi pine 𝘞𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘢 𝘯𝘰𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘴 had only been found in fossil records before living specimens were discovered in a steep sided sandstone gorge in 1994.
Our onsite Citizen Science Wollemi Seed Project sees our dedicated team of volunteers covering selected pinecones on the trees with mesh bags, extracting and sorting the viable seed. This very important annual seed collecting process helps conserve the Wollemi pine and record important observations which may help us learn more about this important species.
