GOLD in Ecotourism and Excellence in Accessible Tourism, proving that nature and inclusivity go hand in hand.

The Arboretum was honoured to receive two awards at the recent Canberra Region Tourism Awards, winning in the categories of 'Ecotourism' and 'Excellence in Accessible Tourism'.

The Ecotourism award recognises our commitment to conservation, education, and caring for 44,000 rare and remarkable trees, ensuring they thrive for generations to come.

The Excellence in Accessibility award highlights our dedication to ensuring our forests, knowledge-sharing, and experiences are accessible to everyone. With over 1 million visitors each year—20% of whom are people with disabilities—we continue to strive to ensure an easy and enjoyable experience for visitors of all ages, abilities, and needs.

We would like to thank the organisers, judges, and sponsors of the awards, and congratulate the other award-winning members of our tourism industry as together we showcase Canberra as a top tourist destination.

Both awards are a testament to our incredible staff, passionate Friends, volunteers, onsite partners and every visitor who supports our mission for a more inclusive and sustainable future. We are proud to represent Canberra next year at the Australian Tourism Awards, as we continue to inspire eco-conscious and accessible travel experiences, connecting all people with nature.
