Today the Canberra Art Biennial held the 2024 media launch in the Mununja Butterfly Garden at the National Arboretum.

Now returning for it's 5th edition, the biannual art event presents contemporary mixed media artworks all around Canberra.

The launch was opened with a Welcome to Country by Ngunawal elder Tyronne Bell, followed by words from Minister for the Arts Tara Cheyne MLA, Professor Chris Wallace, and 2024 Biennial Creative Producer Tegan Garnett.

We are excited to be hosting a number of public artworks this year, including a mixture of performance art pieces & installations positioned in various locations around the Arboretum.

As a glimpse of what's to come, these 'Bird' sculptures by Tom Buckland joined us at the media launch this morning, with the rest of the flock perching on site during the art biennial which runs from 27 September - 26 October.
