Canberra’s best in tourism were recognised at the 2023 Canberra Region Tourism Awards ceremony held at the Hyatt Hotel on Friday 24 November with the National Arboretum Canberra picking up gold for ‘Ecotourism’.
“We are very proud to be receiving the Ecotourism Award at the 2023 Canberra Region Tourism Awards. We have a small but diverse team that strives for excellence every day. This would not be possible without the support of the Chief Minister Andrew Barr MLA, and Special Minister of State Chris Steel MLA, our stakeholders, tourists, and the local community, we thank each and every one of you.” Scott Saddler AM, Executive Branch Manager of the National Arboretum Canberra and University of Canberra Stromlo Forest Park.
Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at the National Arboretum, from how we care for our trees and for the site, the products we use through to our public program. Winning the Ecotourism category acknowledges the work, commitment and the vision of the National Arboretum to sustainability.
We would like to thank the organisers, judges, and sponsors of the awards, and congratulate the other award-winning members of our tourism industry as together we showcase Canberra as a top tourist destination.
We would also like to acknowledge the Friends of the Arboretum, our dedicated volunteers and visitors that make the National Arboretum Canberra what it is today. We thank our site partners The Ginger Group and The Curatoreum gift shop who strive for excellence every day.
