This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the achievements of inspiring women in leadership—women who shape the world around us through passion, innovation, and dedication. One such leader is Amalie Shawcross, Senior Director of Operations at the National Arboretum Canberra.

Amalie oversees the Living Collections team, a group of skilled arborists and horticulturalists who act as custodians of this vast and breathtaking living museum. Managing 100 forests, gardens, and the renowned National Bonsai and Penjing Collection, across 250 hectares is no small feat. Yet, with a deep love for nature and conservation, Amalie and her team nurture the Arboretum as it grows into the future.

As part of our International Women’s Day coverage, Galah Press is set to release an exclusive interview with Amalie Shawcross, offering a closer look at her journey, the unique tapestry of forests she manages, and the vital role of the Arboretum in conservation.
