Lights, Camera, Arboretum! ABC’s Hit Comedy Austin Returns
The National Arboretum Canberra is once again in the spotlight, this time as a filming location for Season 2 of ABC’s beloved comedy Austin, premiering Sunday 27 July at 7:30pm on ABC TV and streaming on ABC iview.
Filmed earlier this year in February, the Arboretum’s stunning Margaret Whitlam Pavilion was transformed into a charming bookstore for one of the show’s scenes, while the top of the amphitheatre doubled as a bustling Canberra sidewalk.
Returning to the screen is Michael Theo in his breakout role as Austin - the straight-talking, wonderfully authentic author whose life takes a wild turn when his book An Autistic Guide to Britain goes global. Season 2 dives deeper into Austin’s journey through fame, family, and the publishing world, all with the show’s signature humour and heart.
Joining Theo is a star-studded cast including Ben Miller, Sally Phillips, Gia Carides, Roy Billing, Rob Collins, Kate Elliott, Rodger Corser, Katrina Milosevic, Claire Lovering, and Natalie Abbott.
Both seasons of Austin were proudly supported by the ACT Government through the Screen Investment Fund, helping to spotlight Canberra’s unique locations and creative talent.
