Discover Bonsai Week 19-25 March - a week of special events and activities

Think global bonsai. A week of special events activities, including displays, workshops, demonstrations and tours of the National Bonsai and Penjing Collection and presentations by international guest artists, Yannick Kiggen from Belgium, Ofer Grunwald from Israel and Carlos van der Vaart from Holland.

Learn how to create and maintain your own bonsai at an introductory workshop and join us for a special evening event, Bonsai After Hours.

Monday 19 March – Wednesday 21 March: Bonsai Workshop for Adults - an introduction to the art of bonsai

Three workshops:
19, 20 and 21 March

2:00 - 3:30pm

Join curators of the National Bonsai Penjing Collection to create your very own bonsai to take home!

Learn how to trim, wire and shape your bonsai, plus you'll be given all the information you need to take care of your tree at home.

All materials are provided and there will be tools to borrow.

Suitable for ages 16 +.

Spaces are limited for these popular workshops so book early!

This class is all inclusive at
$70 per person and $65 for Friends of the NAC

Presentation by international bonsai and visual artist, Ofer Grunwald, "Bonsai:  From Traditional Art Form to Contemporary Artistic Practise". In the Margaret Whitlam Pavilion.

Alongside his ongoing bonsai work, Ofer is constantly taking bonsai to new artistic heights, including abstraction. He will dive into the fascinating and exasperating aspects of using bonsai as a medium for contemporary artistic expression

Special evening event with delicious substantial canapes and a drink on arrival in the Village Centre.

Soak up the views, meet other bonsai enthusiasts and watch as international guest artists Yannick Kiggen and Carlos van der Vaart transform shaggy trees into bonsai masterpieces.

Auctions will occur throughout the evening of bonsai, masterclass places, pottery and a photographic art print.
