Tours and trails

The National Arboretum Canberra offers a range of visitor experiences, including self-guided walking tours, free guided walking tours, school group tours and activities as well as guided bus tours (fee applies, visitor supplied bus). Map of the Arboretum (PDF – 1.2 MB).

Tours for all ages and abilities are available, whether on your own or in a group. Bookings are recommended for free guided tours; bookings are required for paid tours

Self guided walking tour with sound pen

A free map of the self-guided walking trails is available at the Village Centre and can be downloaded here (PDF – 1.2 MB). Visitors may hire a sound pen for $5 at the Village Shop.

Free guided walks

Enjoy a free guided walk and talk with one of our friendly and knowledgeable volunteers from the Friends of the Arboretum. Short and long walks are available. Free guided tours leave regularly from the Village Centre, starting at 10 am and finishing at 3 pm each day. Maximum 16 people.

Easy walk on flat ground.

The Silver Birch Forest

1.5 hours

Medium difficulty with some hills requiring moderate fitness.

Conservation Walk

1.5 hours

Medium difficulty with some hills requiring moderate fitness.

Dairy Farmers Hill Walk 1 hour Medium difficulty with some hills requiring moderate fitness. Includes some rocky, steep and uneven section
